It's just a few days until the first splash at the Daniel Jaekel Chicago Classic. Be sure to visit our website daily for updated information. This update firms up Heat Limitations, Warm-up Schedules and includes a Call For Officials.

We do not have any special information about the NATO Summit meetings and activities. Your best sources of information are media reports and text messages updates from Notify Chicago, a city sponsored information link.

Warm-up Schedule --

Morning session -- warm-up 7:30am, start 8:30am

Afternoon session -- warm-up no earlier than  12:45pm, start immediately following warm-up

Heat Limitations -- We will be limiting the following events:  

Sr 200 IM - no more than 6 heats, Sr 400 IM and 800 free - no more than 3 heats, 12 & under 200 IM - no more than 3 heats

Other events may be limited as required by Illinois Swimming; final determination of heat limitations will be made at the meet. It is our intent to offer as many heats as possible while complying with ISI rules.

Timers and Officials --  Timing assignments will be posted Tuesday, 15 May.

Check-in and Psyche Sheets -- Psyche Sheets will be posted on 15 May.

The Live Results link is up-to-date with a draft of the Psyche Sheet.

Check-in will remain open as long as possible. Swimmers who are late will be accommodated as best as possible. We will insert swimmers into heats where possible or create extra heats if necessary. We will not however, be able to re-run events already finished.

We are all aware of the possible impact of the NATO Summit neetings and activities on the meet. We do not have any special information that is not available to the general public.

The best sources of information are actually press and TV briefings from official sources. You can recieve text messages or email updates at Notify Chicago, a city sponsored information link or the official Chicago NATO Summit website. (The Chicago NATO Summit link sends you back to Notify Chicago for traffic updates.)

Timers and Officials --  Timing assignments will be posted Friday, 11 May. Both timing and officiating could become challenging due to traffic or other problems. Please be patient and willing to pitch in. 

Check-in and Psyche Sheets -- Check-in will remain open as long as possible. Swimmers who are late will be accommodated as best as possible. We will insert swimmers into heats where possible or create extra heats if necessary. We will not however, be able to re-run events already finished. Psyche Sheets will be posted on 15 May; the Live Results link is up-to-date with a draft of the Psyche Sheet.

The 34th edition of the meet is just 2 weeks away. We have a full and very fast field ready to take a step down the road to Omaha.

Entry updates for teams already entered are due by Monday, 7 May, 1:00pm. We can accept new entry times but not new swimmers.

Daniel Jaekel Chicago Classic Meet Entries Open April 12

The 34th Annual Daniel Jaekel Chicago Classic Meet is one of the longest continuously operating meets in Illinois. The meet was re-named in 2006 to honor LFSC swimmer Daniel Jaekel who died in 2005 at age 10 of a sudden heart condition. Each year we remember Daniel and the positive impact he made on our club and his teammates. One of our endearing memories has been his touching rendition of the Randy Newman hit song, "You've Got A Friend In Me".

This meet is open to all USA Swimming members  with the following teams expected to compete:  Academy Bullets, Ultimate Swimming, Bartlett Electrix Swim Team, New Trier Swim Club, Lincolnway Swim Assn, The Oak Park Swimmers, Barrington Swim Club, McGaw YMCA, YWCA Flying Fish, Swift Aquatics, Leaning Tower YMCA.

The excitement is building toward the 2012 US Olympic Trials and Olympic Games. Join Illinois finest swimmers at the  34th Annual Daniel Jaekel Chicago Classic Meet. This meet is open to all USA Swimming members and clubs.
