Daniel Jaekel 100 Breaststroke Award

The 34th edition of the Daniel Jaekel Chicago Classic introduces a new award honoring the memory of Daniel who died from a heart condition in November 2005 at age 10. The meet was renamed to honor Daniel in 2006 and now, thanks to a generous donation, the Daniel Jaekel Breaststroke Award will be given annually to the winner of the 10 & under breaststroke events.

The 2012 inaugural winners of the award are Sophia Harvard of the Wheaton Swim Club and Trystan Lundgren of the Westmont Swim Club. Presenting the award today is Coach Laurel Liberty, Daniel's coach.
