Practice Schedule and Calendar

Love to swim? Ready to learn to swim like a Champion? If you said “YES!” then you are ready for our Mighty Ducks Squad. In the Mighty Ducks you will learn advanced competitive stroke skills, starts and turns. You will also participate in our “Age Group Challenge Mini Meets” to test yourself.

Read more below or click here to register for the Mighty Ducks! or click here to contact Coach Laurel Liberty.

The Mighty Ducks Squad is for young swimmers (generally 6-10 yrs) who demonstrate the Foundation Skills learned in the Mini Dux. All swimmers need to be comfortable in a group learning environment, water safe and able to use a kickboard. The goal of the Mighty Ducks Squad is to build on the skills learned as a Mini Duck, swim lessons, or other competitive team experience.

Most swimmers progress to the competitive team in the Yellow Squad after about 18 months preparation in the Mighty Ducks. Swimmers in the Yellow Squad must be at least 7 years old, have a skill and learning evaluation with a LFSC coach (usually Coach Laurel), and demonstrate the following Foundation Skills:

Independent front and back float for 30 seconds

Front float kicking with face in the water

Back  Float kicking with eyes on the ceiling and tummy up

Swim 25 yards freestyle with correct side breathing and arms out of the water

Swim 25 yards backstroke with arms out of the water and maintaining horizontal body position

Demonstrate basic water safety and group learning readiness

Other skills as may be necessary

Most swimmers will spend at least eighteen months learning these skills and becoming comfortable in the general swim team environment. All swimmers must meet behavior rules established by the Lake Forest Swim Club or any facility we use.
