Sadness In The LFSC Family

On Monday, July 18, Mike, Sally, Katie and Maggie Burns lost their daughter and sister, Elizabeth, 16. Ellie was on a camping expedition in Wyoming when a dead tree uprooted, striking her as she made camp some 60 feet away. Ellie was to start her junior year at LFHS this fall.

Ellie did not swim competitively with LFSC while Maggie swam briefly in our Mighty Ducks program and Katie swam in every level of the team. Katie continued her carreer at Colorado College. Mike, Sally and the entire Burns family has a 15+ year association with club, always supporting the club with friendship smiles and more than a few turns as lane timers.

Mike, Sally, Katie, Maggie . . . you are in the hearts, thoughts and prayers of Coach Mo, Michael, Cindy and Laurel and the entire Lake Forest Swim Club family . . .

I'm so happy with how it went! It was a great event and we all raised so much money. Jenny Thompson and Brooke Bennett were there and a couple other Olympians which was really cool. I ended up winning the women's swim which was great and being the 2nd highest fundraiser, so I would say it was absolutely a success. Thanks so much again for your help Mo I really appreciate it!

Swim Across America With Courtney

Courtney has swum her entire career at LFSC, continuing to swim in the College program this summer. She is the team captain at Tufts University.

Hi Coach Mo!

I'm participating in a fundraiser mile swim in Boston next Saturday. It is a fundraiser for cancer and it is dedicated this year to my mother who has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

The swim is now approaching soon so I figured I would send it to you/the club as a last measure with hopes you may be able to send it on to more people than I could.

As it is a swimming event, it can't hurt to send to some of the families I have grown up swimming with. Anyways, any help you can give would be great - passing it on to a few e-mails if you have any contacts who may be interested that would be wonderful.

Thanks so much and here is the link to my page with the letter I wrote!
