It was a great weekend of swimming at the RecPlex, thank you to every club, coach, athlete and official who made the weekend such fun. Special congratulations to Ellie Suek and Burke Sims on reaching their dream of competing in the upcoming US Olympic Trials.

Trials Cuts Highlight Fast Swimming At The SwimFest!

Riddle me this Batman . . . "What has 26 sports, 39 disciplines, 34 venues, 8.8 million tickets, 302 medal events and 10,500 athletes?"

"The Olympics, Batman?"

"Correct Boy Wonder! And how do you get to the Olympic Games in swimming?"

"Head to the 2012 LFSC SwimFest in Pleasant Prairie to make an Olympic Trials cut, Batman!"

Foxjet (Minnesota) superstar blistered the cut in the 200 backstroke. That makes the drive back to Eden Prairie better! Burke, swimming out of Stanford, punched his ticket to Omaha in the 200 free. Both swimmersThat's right, the pool was hot and got hotter for Burke Sims and Ellie Suek last night as both broke through with qualifying times for the 2012 Olympic Trials!

SwimFest 2012 Update, 14 June -- Heat Limits and Timeline

  • Heat Limitations --Heat limitations have been imposed on the following events:

Sat--> Women 800 Free (3 heats), Women 200 IM (6 heats), Girls 12 & under 200 IM (3 heats, Boys 12 & under 400 Free (3 heats)


Sun--> Men 800 Free (3 heats), Men 200 IM (6 heats), Boys 12 & under 200 IM (3 heats), Girls 12 & under 400 Free (3 heats).

Entry fees for swimmers missing the heat limit cut-off (after positive check-in closes) will be refunded to the team after the meet. If additional heats can be swum without extending the session we will do so.

  • Officials

Officials are always needed and greatly appreciated. Please contact Elaine Gilbert to volunteer your time and service. You are also encouraged to simply bring your fanciest Officiating garb to the meet aand volunteer on the spot. All officials receive free parking in the main lot . . . simply show your USA Swimming Official's credential at the gate.

  • Heat Limitation cut-offs --The following events may be heat limited:   Sat--> Women 800 Free, Women 200 IM, Girls 12 & under 200 IM, Boys 400 Free    Sun--> Men 800 Free, Men 200 IM, Boys 12 & under 200 IM, Girls 400 Free.

Entries for the meet have exceeded expectations based on previous years, good for swimmers trying to make a qualifying standard but not so good for the timeline. Pre-event scratches via email are encouraged.

This weekend is the last qualifying weekend for swimmers hoping to achieve an Olympic Trials cut. At the 2012 Spring Speedo Champions Series Meet 6 new Olympic Trials cuts were made at the RecPlex. Get ready for a weekend of FAST FAST FAST swimming! Be sure to check the LFSC website regularly for updated information!

  • Timing Assistance Request -- Timing assistance is greatly appreciated. Admission fees will be refunded to all volunteer timers. A lane timer assignment list for Illinois teams will be available online and at the meet.
  • Warm-up and timeline information -- Morning sessions (Sr) are planned to finish by 12:45pm. Afternoon (age group) sessions are planned to finish by 6:00pm:

SwimFest 2012 Reservations Are Open

Join us for a weekend of great swimming at the Midwest's premier competition venue. Our unique fast-paced meet format encourages spectator involvement and fast swimming.

Teams committed to the meet (18 March 2012) include Lake Forest Swim Club, Jayhawk Aquatic Club, Elmbrook Swim Club, PX-3, Lake Geneva YMCA, New Trier Swim Club, Lincolnway Swim Assn and The YWCA Flying Fish. (This meet will use the Wisconsin Meet Reservation system . . . download the form below.)

SwimFest 2011 -- Results

Congratulations to the 700 swimmers who competed and made the 2011 Wisconsin SwimFest a great success. More thanks go out to all of the volunteer timers from many clubs and all of the LFSC parents who donated time and money for a successful meet.

We look forward to seeing all of the teams at an upcoming LFSC meet in 2011 and 2012. Our tentative meet hosting schedule includes:

SwimFest Info For LFSC Swimmers and Parent

LFSC Volunteer Assignments

Directions

LFSC meets are hosted and run by our outstanding parent organization. In addition to providing a great opportunity for our swimmers, LFSC meets are important fundraisers for our club.

All LFSC families with a swimmer in the meet provide at least one meet worker for each full session in which their child is participating. Please contact Lauren Jacobs with questions, kurt-lauren@prodigy.net.

 

Warm-up -- Please be on time for warm-up. The scheduled warm-up time allows time to change, check-in, find the team area and report to the blocks.

Sat Warmup--> Sr: 6:30am     Age Group: 12:15pm

Sun Warm-up-> Sr: 7:00am    Age Group: 12:45pm

In addition to providing a great opportunity for our swimmers, LFSC meets are important fundraisers for our club.  All swim families are encouraged to volunteer at this event, even if your swimmer is unable to participate.  We are most in need of volunteers for the afternoon sessions.

SwumFest Update #5 -- Final

Timing Assistance Request -- Timing assistance is greatly appreciated. Admission fees will be refunded to all volunteer timers.

Heat Limitation cut-offs -- The Sr sessions are planned to conclude no later than 12:45pm. To accomplish that the following heat limitations will be enforced:

Sat--> Women 800 Free, 4 heats     Men 400 Free, 6 heats (12:45pm cut-off)

Sun--> Men 800 Free, 3 heats     Women 400 Free, 6 heats (12:45pm cut-off)

If additional heats can be swum without extending the session past 12:45pm we will do so. On Sunday we will run additional heats of the Men's 400 Free as time allows. All age group events will be run without limitations.

Warm-up and timeline information -- Morning sessions (Sr) will finish by 12:45pm. Afternoon (age group) sessions will finish by 6:00pm:
